I'm really tired, so I don't feel like typing at the moment.
Um, first fully-colored picture in Photoshop, so I'm pretty impressed with myself. No character of mine in particular.
I wasn't really sure how to do marking in Photoshop, so I just kind of left it as a base color. So any advice on how to do that would be helpful. I wasn't sure if I should do the markings all with the base color then do the shading, or do the markings after I'd done the shading.
Anywho, critique would be greatly appreciated.
Lineart didn't take me as long as I thought it would. Couldn't find my tablet pen, so unfortunately done by hand.
Hmm, well there's no fixed way to add a horse's markings in photoshop, as everyone has a different way of doing things. I assume by markings you mean things like dapples, socks, stockings, blazes, etc?
Well, if you use layers, and you have your base color on one layer, you can just add a layer on top of your base color and hit Ctrl+G. That groups the layer to the base layer: anywhere you paint on the new layer won't go outside your lovely golden color. Then, if you wish, you can merge markings with the original pelt by hitting Ctrl+E and merge the marking layer with the base layer, so it's one layer instead of two. Sorry to be confusing, and you probably already know how to do that. xD
Nice picture. The edges of the horse seem a bit fuzzy, as if you dragged the character onto the background from a seperate picture. I don't know, but it's not too noticeable either way.

This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
